About the blog
The WordPress version of A Fortean in the Archives is a partial mirror of Mike Dash’s occasional Fortean blog at the Charles Fort Institute, featuring only the principal investigative posts. It was originally set up as a feed into amazon.com’s author page for Mike.
About the author
Mike Dash read history at Cambridge. Since then he’s clocked up six years in the archives as a postgrad studying for a PhD, and 10 more in his current career as an author of five (and counting) heavily-researched popular histories, including Batavia’s Graveyard – if you really want the full story, go here.
Mike joined Fortean Times as a contributing editor in 1983 and since then has devoted more spare time than is probably wise to researching and writing on a broad range of frankly seldom heard-of topics, several of which have featured in this blog.
Few things give him greater pleasure than tracking some obscure story to its source, but he is still trying to work out if there is really any point in being an authority on most of them.
